"Arbuckle Stories" Webpage

Hi, I’m Jim Arbuckle, and welcome to “Arbuckle Stories” of Belle Vue Farm in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, WV. Some of the stories are from the family of Alexander Wayt Arbuckle II, 1851-1925, but most are from the family of Alex Wayt Arbuckle III (1887-1990). Both were born in the Belle Vue farm house, which was built in 1822. Alex Wayt Arbuckle III was my grandfather, and all of his five grandchildren called him “Dat.”

In 1981, I began writing some of the memories I had while spending time at my grandparent’s farm in the 1960’s. A few of the stories are about local history, but most are of my immediate family, and some of the stories have a touch of fiction, but all are true happenings. Since most of the Arbuckle stories are about one family, many may not relate, but I hope you will read and get to know this particular Arbuckle family of Belle Vue Farm, and I know you will enjoy the stories of local history.

None of my stories would be complete without my grandparents, Alex & Carrie, cousins, Johnson, Jane, Alex Lewis and my brother, Davis. And since most of the stories are about me and from my memory, I welcome all of the Arbuckle family, along with the Lewis, McLaughlin, Botts and Becker families to share their Arbuckle stories and memories; which I will gladly add to this website. Until then, I hope you will enjoy my Arbuckle family stories, and local history. (See “Arbuckle Stories Index” for the list.)

Note! Please read the stories first. The “Pictures” & “Videos” are meaningless unless you know the story.
